So, you’re curious what is in the spending bill passed Friday and likely to be signed this weekend? You’d like to maybe browse it for yourself? A totally reasonable request. That bill, especially, should be super easy to find, with links plastered all over the internet. But, at least as far as I can find, it isn’t.
This is ridiculous. Why don’t news outlets include direct links to bill texts routinely? Or at least give bill numbers so you can look them up yourself? Aargh! It is often said that Americans don’t care. That we’re apathetic. I beg to differ. We are being failed. Information that should be easy to find is simply not.
Here’s the link to the bill on BillTrack50. You can go to the associated documents tab to get to all the official government versions of the bill. But you would be better served to see what GovTrack has pulled together on the topic, explaining in an understandable way how it all fits together.
Really whenever you are wondering about a federal bill GovTrack is a good first place to look. If caring what our government is doing is a habit of yours, you might want to bookmark that link. Might save you from feeling as irritated as I do right now.
