Our scorecards are a popular way to see which legislators support your agenda and which oppose it. Now you can create a new scorecard based on one of your bill sheets. The process is very easy; now when you start a new scorecard you’ll be able to simply choose a bill sheet to copy bills from.

To make a new scorecard go to the scorecard tab, and click on the new scorecard button.  The first step is still to choose a state and give the scorecard a name. But now you have a choice to import a list of bills from one of your bill sheets. The bill sheet drop down list will only show bill sheets that have the state you chose at the top of the screen. If you don’t choose a bill sheet you’ll be able to add bills later, just as you do now. If you do choose a bill sheet to start from, you’ll still be able to add and remove bills to the scorecard as needed.

The rest of the scorecard creation process is the same as it ever was. Your scorecard will be created, with the bills from your chosen bills sheet and state already set up.

If you have given the bills in your bill sheet a position using our position column, the bills will be given a default score.  The default scores are as follows:

  • Strong support = 5
  • Support = 3
  • (anything else) = 0
  • Oppose = -3
  • Strong Oppose = -5

You can, of course, tweak these scores as needed.

Once you are done creating your scorecard you’ll be shown the summary tab for the bills from your bill sheet from the state you chose.  If you go to the legislation tab you’ll see all of your bills, rated as described above, ready for you to fine tune as needed. You can add additional bills any time using the add bill button.  You can remove bills by clicking the edit link for the bill, scrolling to the bottom, and clicking delete.
